You just unbolt everything, and unbolt the handlebars last. Put the clubmans in place, bolting them bolting them tight with the handle portion flat. Reattach everything and put the grips on.

Before you do any of this, if you do not have a compressor go somewhere where you can use one and put the nozzle on the hole of one grip and plug the hole on the other with your finger. One of the grips will come off easily when it's shot full of air.

Then wrap something around the nozzle so it;'ll seat on the naked side and blow the other off. You can put them back on almost the same way.

Remember not to ride sitting upright with clubmans, but leaning forward slightly with your elbows bent. You're not doing it correctly if your wrists don't hurt after a while. Don't ride tucked in and don't lie on the tank.

Have fun.
Keep the rubber side down.

In the US, you will need a motorcycle endorsement (M) in addition to auto license, except for motorcycles under 50cc. Written and riding. Some states take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class in place of a riding test. Check your state here:

license for a bike works the same way as a car. you take a written test, and then a driving test.

there will be an idle adjustment screw on the carburetor. it should be made so you can adjust it without a screwdriver using only your fingers

Your carbs need a cleaning. The low idle jet is clogged. Pull them apart and blow them out with compressed air and carb cleaner. Then re-install them. Get yourself a manual so you can get them back together right. The idle screw in on the side of the carb.

Your master fuse is fried, follow the hot lead (red) to the fuse carriage (I believe on that bike it's attached to the outside of the battery case). Check thorough all the main fuses (15 A & up) to be on the safe side before going shopping.

Any good quality oil that is compatible with motorcycle wet clutches (JASO MA rated) will suffice.

Ask 100 people and you'll get 50 different answers so you pick your own. I prefer Rotella T6 full synthetic, but that's no reason for you to use it. Nor are any other opinions that you'll get when asking. Just use common sense and pick a name brand that's MA compatible.

Choose the viscosity based upon your expected starting/riding temperatures.

I got a good laugh at the styling disaster comment, That is why they call it the Plastic Maggot. I have owned a 1978 Honda CX500 for 12 years and I ride it a lot. $ 300.00 is well worth it. I think you should buy it and fix it. I do not recommend riding it on one cylinder. Chances are that if it is running on one cylinder that it may be the CDI which has gone bad. They can be found on eBay for about $ 185.00. Definitely replace the spark plugs first with NGK D8EA gapped between .024 -.028 and see if that solves your problem. I would tend to steer away from the idea that it is the carbs, But that is from my experience, Usually if a CX is running the carbs are fine. The Honda CX500 is a fantastic motorcycle with plenty of power. It will never let you down. For $ 300.00 send it my way, I wouldn't mind another one! :)
