tried to start the motorcycle with the booster charger on high, but it was put on wrong [hot to ground and negative to postive post], I replace the battery but still have no lights or power when I turn the key
on. Did he burn out something, or blow a fuse or something some, I cannot seem to find the problem
thanks for any help I can get on this Andy

Yes there is a master fuse somewhere in there.Follow the red lead off the battery they are usually located by the starter solenoid. But on some of the older models the main fuse was mixed right in with the others.

Question by gigabridlinn: Honda Motorcycle: 1980 cb750k… how do I check the starter without using the a key or any button?
The reason i can’t use a key or buttons is because I just bought the bike without those things hooked up. Isn’t there a way I can take a wrench and cross a couple of places to make the starter turn the motor over in order to make sure the motor isn’t fozen? Thanx.

What’s the weight limit on a 1980 honda cm 400 motorcycle?

Question by BlackDahlia: What’s the weight limit on a 1980 honda cm 400 motorcycle?
I’ve found other websites with specifications for the bike, but none of them have a weight limit. It does have two seats, but a lot of newer motorcycles do and have a limit of 330 pounds. I need one with 400. Do you think the bike can handle that much weight? Thanks.
No, together we weight less than 400, but more than the 330 on most other ones we’ve looked at.

Somewhere on the bike it has the weight limit. I would check the neck between the triple clamps, or around the swingarm or under the seat. By law the it has the gross weight stamped or printed somewhere on the bike.
Good Luck

Question by BlackDahlia: What would you pay for a 1980 honda cm 400 motorcycle in good condition?
The seller is asking $ 1,000, but people have told me that’s too much. What’s a reasonable price? Thanks.

It depends on the condition of the bike. Does it have new(not just good condition) tires, battery, brakes, etc.? $ 1000 would be for excellent condition on a bike that old. Without seeing it I’d have to guess that $ 500 to $ 600 would be more reasonable. Check for what a bike like that goes for on Ebay also helps. I attached a link to one of three on there now.

What do I need to look out for on a 1980 Honda cb750 SuperSport motorcycle before I buy it?

Question by ian51279: What do I need to look out for on a 1980 Honda cb750 SuperSport motorcycle before I buy it?
It is in ok condition. I helped the guy rebuild the carbs before Christmas. I know I will have to take it to a cycle shop to get carbs adjusted and back in sync. He plans on repainting and restriping it. I will put new tires on it if I get it. Is there anything that I should look out for or be aware of before buying this motorcycle?

The cb 750 series have been around a long time. They seem to hold up quite well.Find out as much as you can about the history of the bike.Has it been regularly maintained?Has it been garaged?Normally a bike of this age has rather high mileage but if it has been maintained well and hasn’t been raced it is usually a good bike to have.I owned a 1980 cb750 years ago and it was very dependable.

Probably not much.
Most 80′s jap bikes won’t see past $ 1500 To 2000, unless it’s modified or rare or very customized to a specific crowd.
Your average 80′s jap bike will probably cost $ 300-1000 in decent running shape.
These bikes really don’t have high value since they were mass produced and there’s tons of them still floating around. Sometimes parts can be a problem but this is Model Specific!
There’s tons of them that it’s still easy to get parts for.
But these bikes are usually for a beginner, although heavy in weight.
And they are also for vintage collectors or bike ethusiasts( like myself)
They are cheap, very reliable and easy to work on.
They just don’t make em like that anymore!
Plus their usually fast, and take drops better than modern bikes, and you won’t
be dumping $ 1500 on body panels and paint if you take a tiny fall.
Vintage bikes get more looks on the highways and parking lots as well.
There’s tons of them available to buy, but you don’t see many of them on the roads for some reason!
