i had a carb sync a few months ago and recently noticed fuel leaking from the carb while the bike was running. its a significant amount of fuel, and i check all of the fuel lines.

The front carb screw is the idle mixture and should be set to 1,300 RPM’s.
The idle mixture screw is the lower one to the back of the carb. It should be adjusted to 1 3/4 -1 3/8′s turns out from closed position.

once you start dealing in these smaller engines, there not a whole lot of diffrent between make of engine and fuel consumption…. you’d probably have to use .1 or even .01 mpg to measure the diffrence in consumption between any two, realtively similar configured bikes operating under the same conditions (i.e. riding in the same place at the same speeds/same rider/same tires/etc)

I ride with a friend who has a 2005 Honda Sabre/Saber 1100 motorcycle. He seems to be almost constantly stopping for fuel. His fuel tank is small capacity and he gets just over 40 MPG. Does anyone have this same bike ,and is this abought right for the fuel mileage number? Thanks.
He does not ride aggresively.

For an 1100 cc bike, 40 mpg is low, but not unheard of fuel consumption. If he tosses it around, accelerates hard, and brakes hard, 40 MPG is probably real.
I had a BMW R100RS that got about 44 mpg. But I rode hard.

activate when you turn the ignition key? I have three wires that come in to the fuel relay one from the engine start/stop switch, one from the spark unit and then one that provides power to the fuel pump. How does it all work? Why the spark unit? Whats the purpose of the relay?

Fuel turns off when the engine does not start spark unit might ground that relay. Many engines give 10 to 3 seconds of fuel pressure and if the oil pressure does not come up the relay turns off. Continuing to crank a engine that does not spark loads the crankcase with fuel and explosion can happen.
